A little about me…
I grew up in Central Pennsylvania, spent a couple of years in Ithaca, New York, and then moved to Northern Minnesota to pursue an education. After I attained an undergraduate degree in Creative and Professional Writing, I continued my study in Minnesota for an additional year to pursue a Master’s degree in English. Prior to my 2008 move to Eugene, I taught high school- and college-level writing courses and coordinated a mentoring program for a government-funded nonprofit program.
My husband and I have made a comfortable and happy home here in Eugene, complete with a garden and backyard chickens. We love exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and because we met in Northern Minnesota, we are especially appreciative of Eugene’s mild winters.
My work at Business Law Centre…
For the two years prior to law school, I worked as a legal assistant at Business Law Centre. I found that I was able put to use my writing and editorial skills in the drafting and review of various legal documents and in planning, writing, and publishing the firm’s blog articles. While I didn’t expect to find myself in a legal career, I was drawn to what I now understand to be a language-focused discipline. Both language and law are ever-changing and progressing; just as in literature, the law requires skilled use of interpretation and strong arguments. It was this realization that led me to apply to law school.
Now, as a law clerk at Business Law Centre, I find my work to be rewarding. I like the perspective and hands-on experience working at Business Law Centre offers, and I am able to utilize this experience in my study of law at the University of Oregon School of Law.
